Former erotic dancer Trace Lysette won a role in Jennifer Lopez’s new film Hustlers after posting a random tweet about her strip club experiences.
The transgender actress performed at popular New York City club Scores for over eight years and, when she heard Lorene Scafaria was putting together a cast for a film about a bunch of savvy strippers, she knew she wanted to be a part of it.
“The story and character were so personal to me, that I decided to send a tweet into the universe,” she explains. “Lorene saw it and asked me to lunch. We hit it off and I told her about my experiences as a stripper.
“I was incredibly pleased that the story humanizes the profession… These characters work hard hustling for their money to provide for themselves and their families. Their camaraderie is priceless and necessary for their survival, and that is something almost any woman can relate to.”
