Roland Pumpkin Fair on Oct. 6, has something for everybody when it comes to entertainment.
Tom Neufeld, who arranges entertainment along with his wife Lori, said they have one goal when planning who will play at the annual fair.
“We always look for variety because the people that attend the Pumpkin Fair are all ages from newborns right up to seniors,” he said.
Planning the entertainment is something they do at all times, not just in the months leading up to the fair.
“In our travels, we’re always looking for people we think might be appropriate,” he said. “We always make sure that there’s something for the kids, something for the adults, something for everybody in between.”
This year’s festival includes The Wood Knots. Described as inventive, old-school country, this is a band worth listening to. This group modernizes country while keeping true to the enduring songs that have made old-fashioned country music so classic.
The band is a new group, made up of Tom and Lori Neufeld, Winkler’s Mike Hiebert and Morden’s Derrick Wainio.
Roland Pumpkin Fair will also welcome Jayme Giesbrecht and Jonathan Alexiuk. “This time she’s coming as a trio with a piano player and a drummer,” Neufeld said.
Jayme has been described as powerful, soul-inspired and a gifted vocalist. Jonathan has been a pianist on cruise-lines like Princess and Holland-America, has performed and recorded as a pianist, trumpeter, saxophonist, trombonist, and drummer. The two join forces to bring their jazz and gospel styles together. Audiences are always delighted and moved by the musicianship of this dynamic duo.
The fair will also welcome Mr. Ken. “A lot of people have recommended him to us,” Neufeld said.

The entertainment, like the fair itself is free and Neufeld said that’s done to ensure people from the community and beyond can enjoy the event.
